| | Model | 2005 Toyota Hilux 4x4 A/T |
| | What things have gone wrong with the car? | The brakes wear off too quickly - less than 10,000 km especially for A/T models. |
| | General comments? | I think the problem of brake durability for the 2005 hi-lux lies with:
1. Either the brakes supplied by Toyota (or rather those supplied TO Toyota) are of very poor quality. Average mileage before the brake pads wear off is about 7,000 km for A/T models.
2. Toyota erred in its brake design for the 2005 Hi-lux. It is true that the car is too powerful for its brakes. To top it all, FYI, Philippine models don't come with ABS!
Luckily, the brake pads of the old, reliable SR5 4x4 is the same with the 2005 Hi-lux. I tried using them with my 2005 hi-lux and I got a mileage of 20,000 km! I also tried other replacement brands and also got longer mileage! |
